Jungheinrich has started production of the new ETV 2i reach truck series at its plant in Chomutov, Czech Republic. The first truck of the series, a new ETV 216i, rolled off the production line on Monday.
Hamburg/Chomutov - The new ETV 214i and 216i are produced in Jungheinrich's latest plant in Chomutov, which was constructed specifically to produce reach trucks. The series was presented at LogiMAT last year and is ideal for light to medium-duty applications and built for efficiency. It was developed as a cost- and energy-efficient solution for customers who attach great importance to quality, robustness and customisation options but, at the same time, do not need high-performance equipment. To develop the innovative 2i lithium-ion reach trucks, Jungheinrich analysed data from around 14,000 real customer deployments and created products precisely tailored to customers' needs. The new ETV 2i series impresses with its outstanding efficiency and offers the best Jungheinrich quality paired with the highest level of safety and user-friendliness at unbeatably attractive purchase costs. For instance, it is equipped as standard with an integrated lithium-ion battery that allows for particularly flexible use thanks to its fast and intermediate charging capability and maintenance-free nature, thus ensuring high availability. At the same time, Jungheinrich forklift trucks with lithium-ion batteries consume around 20 per cent less energy in use than lead-acid trucks.
Jiri Rösner, Plant Manager at the Chomutov plant, Jungheinrich Chomutov s.r.o., adds: ”With the start of the new production, we are continuing the success story of the reach truck here in Chomutov and are now producing its most efficient model to date. This is a pivotal moment for Jungheinrich as a group and for Jungheinrich Chomutov.”
The ETV 2i series offers load capacities of 1,400 kg (ETV 214i) and 1,600 kg (ETV 216i) up to a maximum lift height of 10,700 mm. With an L2 dimension of 1,278 mm, the reach trucks are significantly shorter than conventional models and, therefore, ideal for use in narrow aisles. The drive system, specially developed for the series, includes a new drive motor, gearbox, and drive wheel, as well as a new generation of inverters developed by Jungheinrich.
At LogiMAT 2018, Jungheinrich presented the previous model of the ETV 216i, the world's first reach truck with a built-in lithium-ion battery as standard. The truck has become a bestseller for the material handling provider Jungheinrich. Thanks to the revolutionary truck design, the reach truck has significantly improved ergonomics and is much more compact than other models.
With the opening of its twelfth plant in 2023, Jungheinrich has set the course for its strategic goal of creating further production capacities in Europe. The plant currently employs around 200 people and will be further expanded.
