Compact high performance: Jungheinrich electric pallet truck EJC 112i wins IFOY 2024

Baden, Austria –The International Intralogistics and Forklift Truck of the Year (IFOY) Awards 2024 ceremony took place in Baden, Austria, on Friday evening. Jungheinrich's innovative EJC 112i electric highlifter was honoured with the prestigious award in the “Warehouse Truck highlifter" category. The EJC 112i is the most compact and powerful electric highlifter in its class. For the first time, Jungheinrich consistently focussed on the use of state-of-the-art lithium-ion technology in a pedestrian stacker in the entry-level segment. To save space, Jungheinrich installed the lithium-ion battery modules in the truck, which are much smaller than conventional lead-acid batteries . The EJC 112i with a 100 Ah battery has an L2 dimension of just 604 mm, making it 19 mm shorter than the most compact competitor truck currently on the market. The result is an impressive turning radius that enables even inexperienced users to manoeuvre the vehicle easily, precisely and safely, even in narrow aisles and storage areas. "The rule no longer applies that the smaller and lighter the battery and truck, the lower the stability and therefore the residual load capacity. With the EJC 112i, we have succeeded in achieving a combination of compactness and performance that is unrivalled in this segment," explains Jungheinrich CSO Christian Erlach. By optimising the vehicle's centre of gravity, the stability of the electric highlifter truck has been significantly improved once again. The result is a considerable increase in the residual load capacity by up to 250 kg. The EJC 112i now sets the benchmark in its vehicle segment with a residual load capacity of 650 kg over 4.70 metres. The electric pallet truck also impresses with its particularly fast lifting and lowering speeds.

An independent jury of leading international trade journalists selects the winners based on a three-stage IFOY audit. In addition to a standardised IFOY test, this also includes the IFOY Innovation Check, which is carried out by specialists from the Fraunhofer IML, the University of Dresden, the Technical University of Munich and the Fraunhofer IPA. The IFOY Award, which is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, is organised by the VDMA Materials Handling and Intralogistics Association. With a total of 14 wins since 2013, Jungheinrich counts among the most successful IFOY winners.
